To obtain fundamental knowledge on the spray combustion, a lot of studies on the isolated droplet combustion have been doncucted. However, in the most studies, a droplet was suspended on a fiber, which may has influences on the combustion behavior. In addition, the initial droplet diameter of the suspended droplets was about 1 mm, much larger than the spray droplets. Therefore, in our laboratory, a piezo injector is used to form fine droplets about 60 micrometers in diameter. To gain knowledge of spray combustion, we measured the evaporation and ignition behavior of small droplets.
