Introduction

Department of Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering Science and Department of Intelligent Machinery and Systems were merged into Department of Mechanical Engineering on April 1, 2008. Department of Mechanical Engineering in Faculty of Engineering is composed of following 9 research and education fields.

  • Strength of Materials
  • Fluids Engineering
  • Thermal Engineering
  • Combustion
  • Dynamics of Mechanical Systems
  • Control and Systems
  • Manufacturing Processes
  • Machine Design and Bionic Systems
  • Hydrogen Utilization Engineering

Teaching staff of Department of Mechanical Engineering in Faculty of Engineering are in charge of the education for Mechanical Engineering Course in Department of Mechanical Engineering in School of Engineering (undergraduate program) and for Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Hydrogen Energy Systems in Graduate School of Engineering (master’s and doctoral programs).
Education in English is offered in both undergraduate and graduate programs since 2010.

International Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering

Human civilization was built with machines. Mechanical engineering is a discipline that teaches how to produce and use various machines and manufacturing equipment with the latest technologies to support our affluent lifestyle. In this program, students study the advanced engineering needed to create machines that enhance our world, such as ultra-super precision instruments that work on micro and nano scales, robots with artificial intelligence, and hydrogen energy and biotechnology devices.
